Auckland is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. How lucky are we to have it at our doorstep? Visiting Auckland for an entire day can be both exciting and overwhelming with possibility! From incredible restaurants to wonderful museums, Auckland is a bustling city with something for everybody.
Since there are so many options for activities, we decided to do you a solid and create our top 6 things to do in Auckland for the day:
Visit the Caretaker
A truly hidden gem in the heart of the city, The Caretaker is a speakeasy style hole in the wall pub that creates custom cocktails unique to everyone who walks through their doors. The bartender will ask you a set of questions to get a feel for what kind of drink will wet your whistle best and voila! In a matter of minutes, they create something special just for you! Since every cocktail is made on the spot, each one is bespoke and truly one of a kind (most bartenders make it on the fly so you may never be able to recreate their concoction again!) Sweet Axe Throwing Co (That’s us!)
Rainy day blues got you down? Or maybe you’re just looking for something a little.. edgy? Why not give axe throwing a go!? Established as the first axe throwing range in New Zealand, Sweet Axe is the best way to bring out the fun competitive side of every family member, friend, or colleague…but we might be biased 😉 . Each session consists of proper training and a full-on championship to settle the score of who can throw with the most accuracy. You will laugh! You will cry! You will leave with an unusual and never before realised urge to grow a beard and wear horns on your head! Check out the details here (don’t worry, we’ll be right here when you get back!) https://www.sweetaxethrow.com/
Federal Street Deli
Ever wanted to travel to New York City and eat in a real life Jewish diner? The Federal Street Deli will tickle your pickle urges and bring New York City to you! Inspired by the comfort food of a Jewish NYC deli, walking through the doors of the restaurant is like traveling to another place without ever taking out your passport! With a menu to match, get ready to eat up the atmosphere and the delicious menu! By the way, have you even “called your mothah”? She’s worried, you look thin!
Walk Across the Country!
You read that correctly! While it may seem far fetched to be able to walk across the country in day, this 16k long path will take you coast to coast in approximately 5 hours. Walking you through scenic views of volcanoes and straight through the heart of the city, this trail is do-able for almost any fitness level and is quite the unique experience. Afterall, how many people do YOU know who can say they’ve walked across an entire country?
